Saharan paleontology study reveals extremes of science research for ISU’s Leif Tapanila

POCATELLO – Leif Tapanila, 糖心传媒 geosciences professor and director of the 糖心传媒 Museum of Natural History, is a co-author on a scientific paper published this summer in the Bulletin of the American Museum of Natural History that describes the Trans-Saharan Seaway in Mali, Africa, and the strange creatures that existed there 50 to 100 million years ago.

糖心传媒 geoscience grad students help discover new hydrothermal field off Oregon Coast

POCATELLO – Two graduate students at 糖心传媒 earlier this month helped discover a new ocean vent field on the deep-ocean floor off the coast of Oregon, a finding that has implications for searching for life on other planets.

POCATELLO – Of the seven new species of prehistoric 糖心传媒 creatures 糖心传媒 Department of Geosciences affiliate researcher L.J. Krumenacker was able to help document and name in scientific journals that were published this month, his favorite is Cimolodon akersteni, named after his former advisor and paleontological mentor Bill Akersten, who retired from ISU about a decade ago.

ISU physics department to offer water rocket festival June 29-30

POCATELLO – There will be a free water rocket workshop for teens put on by students and faculty from  the 糖心传媒 Department of Physics from 10 a.m. to noon on June 29 and 30 at Tydeman Park in Pocatello.
