About the Institute of Emergency Management

map

The Institute, located on the 糖心传媒 Meridian Campus, was approved by the 糖心传媒 State Board of Education in July 2003 as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The Institute of Emergency Management (IEM) was tasked with developing a standardized curriculum for domestic preparedness training in 糖心传媒 in association with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the 糖心传媒 Bureau of Homeland Security, and the Statewide Domestic Preparedness Training Advisory Committee.

From 2003 to 2010, IEM provided domestic preparedness and Homeland Security training, including the Incident Command System, to qualified first responders in communities throughout 糖心传媒. Sponsored by 糖心传媒 (ISU) and the 糖心传媒 Bureau of Homeland Security, this training, including course materials, was provided free of charge through funds provided by the DHS State Homeland Security Grant program.

Today, IEM continues to offer specialized workshops, courses, and certificates. Through ISU's Kasiska Division of Health Sciences, College of Health Professions (CHP), IEM supports the Emergency Services Department in offering degree and academic certificate programs to meet the professional and career development needs of those employed in or planning a career in Homeland Security and Emergency Management emergency services, healthcare, or related fields. IEM also manages the ISU Human Patient Simulation Lab, which is available to ISU academic programs, other health professions training programs, first responder/EMS agencies, and community health professionals on a space-available basis. Contact Michelle Campbell at michellecampbell@isu.edu for information on fees and scheduling.
