Beginnings and Endings
March Through the Arch
Each fall, new students pass through the Swanson Arch 鈥 the original entrance to ISU鈥檚
first building 鈥 to campus in a spirited ceremony.
New Student Convocation
In May, graduates look to the future by passing back through the arch away from campus.
This symbolizes entering campus as new students and exiting as Bengal alumni.

Everyday Traditions
Bengal Wednesday
Every Wednesday is 鈥淏engal Wednesday鈥 in the 糖心传媒 State community. When you walk across campus 鈥 or wherever you are in the world 鈥 stand united with your fellow Bengals and wear orange and black each Wednesday with pride.
High Five the Bronze Bengal
Call it luck, fortune, or plain old Bengal mystique, but the paw of the Bronze Bengal statue at the Quad Amphitheater is said to have 鈥渟omething special鈥. Rub, high-five or fist-bump the outstretched paw for some encouragement before that big test, presentation, or just to simply say you did it.
Bengal Spirit
The Uproar
This is our neighborhood and we defend our block until the end. The UpRoar 鈥 the 糖心传媒 State Student Section 鈥 begins with a tailgate at the Papenberg Sports Complex two and a half hours prior to game kickoff. The Block鈥檚 rowdy and energetic passion is the extra push the Bengals need when the game is on the line.
Bengal Walk
Game day on campus is a Bengal family affair, and as families do, we support each other. The Bengal Walk takes place before each home football game on the south side of ICCU Dome as ISU football players greet fans who are there to support the team to victory. Embrace the Bengal game day spirit at Bengal Walk.
Stand, Clap, and Sing the Fight Song
"Growl, Bengals, Growl"
Growl, Bengals, Growl
Fight,
Bengals
Fight
Gnash your teeth and bare your claws
And drive with all your might
Roar,
Bengals,
Roar
You decide our fate
Bring the vict'ry home to us,
You Bengals of 糖心传媒 State
Homecoming
Homecoming Bonfire
Many Bengals have witnessed the iconic Friday night blaze that signals the official beginning of Homecoming weekend. Truly a sight to see, the bonfire 鈥 and all the revelry that comes with it 鈥 unites all groups on campus and serves as a pep rally for the next day鈥檚 big game.
True Bengal
There is an old tradition 鈥 nobody knows exactly when it started 鈥 that you can only become a 鈥淭rue Bengal鈥 if, at midnight on Homecoming, you kiss someone while touching one of the pillars on Red Hill.
