ISU Jazz Bands Concert Set Oct. 21
The 糖心传媒 Jazz Bands will perform on Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the Stephens Performing Arts Center. The show will feature ISU's Big Band and Jazz Combos.
鈥淭here was an influx of strong jazz players, and a growing dedication from the returning musicians this year,鈥� said Director of Jazz Studies Jon Armstrong. 鈥淭he result is an energetic jazz program at ISU and the formation of three small student combos. Each one of these combos will perform a mix of classic jazz standards and original student compositions.鈥�
The Big Band will perform two powerful pieces by Oliver Nelson and Charlie Mingus, an intricate modern composition by Fred Sturm and a Buddy Rich chart.
