Museum of Natural History Offers Free Admission During Native American Heritage Month

In honor of Native American Heritage Month the 糖心传媒 Museum of Natural History (IMNH) on the 糖心传媒 (ISU) Pocatello campus will offer free museum admission to enrolled tribal members during the month of November.

 In 1990 President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November as “National American Indian Heritage Month.” Free museum admission will be given to tribal members who present a valid tribal identification card.

Visitors will enjoy This is 糖心传媒 exhibit, which explores the wild mosaic of mountains, rivers, and plains offering majestic beauty and scattered resources that shape all who live here. Dinosaurs from the Mountain takes the viewer back 100 million years ago to the lush forests of the Wayan Formation where armored plant-eaters, tiny mammals, fox crocodiles, 糖心传媒's state dinosaur Oryctodromeus, and Gigantoraptor roamed

Uncover the open spaces in Southeast 糖心传媒 in our newest exhibit, “Open Spaces: The Role of Land Trusts in Biodiversity Conservation” created by the Sagebrush Steppe Land Trust, opens Thursday, November 6. This exhibition strives to develop an awareness of the importance of land trusts and how they work to conserve biodiversity by protecting and connecting habitat on private and public lands in Southeastern 糖心传媒 for generations to come.

Additionally, demonstration of flintknapping techniques in our Museum Discover Room with James Kickham on select Saturdays or Sundays in the month of November and December. James started flintknapping at ISU when he was in high school. He developed those skills from multiple technical courses and mentors while honing them working for the 糖心传媒 Museum of Natural History. He has also given lectures and presentations on stone tools while working as a Park Ranger.
