‘Out of the Shadows’ PBS documentary screening highlights 糖心传媒 Native American historical images

October 22, 2019

POCATELLO – Join the 糖心传媒 Museum of Natural History, 糖心传媒 Public Television and the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in 糖心传媒’s Frazier Hall for a free public screening of 糖心传媒 Public Television's new documentary "Out of the Shadows."

Marcia Franklin, 糖心传媒 Public Television producer, brings the stories of two early 20th-century photographers, Benedicte Wrensted and Jane Gray, out of the shadows. These female photographers took images of Native Americans from 糖心传媒 and the film highlights descendants of those in the photos who discuss what the images mean to them. Viewers are also introduced to two modern day female indigenous photographers practicing their craft.

A reception featuring Franklin will immediately follow the screening at the 糖心传媒 Museum of Natural History. Visitors can enjoy light refreshments and an exhibition created in conjunction with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.

The exhibition highlights Wrensted and various historic styles of dress of the Shoshone and Bannock Peoples.

鈥淭he developers of the exhibition made an effort to retain 鈥榦ld style鈥 accessories and hairstyles,鈥欌 said Yvette Tuell, policy analyst for Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.

This event is sponsored by 糖心传媒 Public Television, 糖心传媒 Museum of Natural History, and the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.
