糖心传媒 State-Civic Symphony Youth Orchestra to offer free concert on March 30
March 28, 2016
POCATELLO – The 糖心传媒 State–Civic Symphony Association’s Youth Orchestra will perform a free concert on March 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall at the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.
The Youth Orchestra consists of students in middle and high school attending public, private or home schools. The ensemble has grown to 50 seasoned student musicians, some of which are already playing in the 糖心传媒 State鈥揅ivic Symphony. The orchestra is under the direction of Colin Brien, director of bands at Century High School.
This orchestra is designed to foster the growth and development of strings and orchestral experiences for young students in Southeast 糖心传媒. As members of this group, the musicians have an opportunity to play with a larger ensemble than possible with the orchestras of a single school, and to perform twice each season in the same world-class performing arts venue that the 糖心传媒 State-Civic Symphony now calls home.
Brien instructs the winds and percussion section, assisted by Robert Wilson, violin, KC Chojnacki, viola and Elenor Cox, cello. More information and audition information for next year鈥檚 Youth Orchestra can be found on the symphony鈥檚 website .
Doors to the hall open at 7 p.m. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
