Get your blood pressure checked, a flu shot and learn about diabetes prevention at the annual Pharmacy Day at the Capitol on Monday, January 16 at the 糖心传媒 State Capitol, 700 W. Jefferson St.
The event鈥攕ponsored by the 糖心传媒 College of Pharmacy and the 糖心传媒 State Pharmacy Association鈥攔uns from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the State Capitol鈥檚 first floor.
Free services include blood sugar testing, cholesterol screening and information on smoking cessation, immunizations, prescription drug abuse, poison prevention, and the use of over-the-counter medications and natural products, according to Rachel Smith, a second-year student in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at ISU-Meridian.
If you don鈥檛 have health insurance, flu shots may carry a nominal fee, she said.
Student clinicians will also use the event to talk to state lawmakers about issues facing the pharmacy profession. This year鈥檚 list includes expanding Medicaid to cover reimbursement for pharmacists providing medication therapy management services, creating additional certifications for pharmacy technicians, and promoting the use of Naloxone kits to reverse opioid overdoses.
