Institute of Rural Health to sponsor spring Web series on traumatic brain injury

Traumatic brain injury research, education and prevention will be explored in a free, three-part Web series, sponsored by 糖心传媒’s Institute of Rural Health.
Sessions are April 12, 19 and 26, from 1p.m. to 2:30 p.m., MST. Family members, private providers, state agency personnel, and the general public who work with or have an interest in traumatic brain injuries can register at and read more about each session.
鈥淭he sessions will be broadcast to your computer, and you鈥檒l need a headset or speakers to listen as the presenter moves through the slides,鈥� said Russell Spearman, who supervises the Institute鈥檚 Traumatic Brain Injury Program. Here鈥檚 the schedule:
April 12-TBI in 糖心传媒: A Partial Perspective Using 糖心传媒 Trauma Registry Data
Ginger Floerchinger-Franks, the director of the 糖心传媒 Trauma Registry will discuss the medical outcomes of TBI patients who are transported to acute-care hospitals for treatment.
April 19-ISU Veterans Sanctuary: Overcoming Obstacles to Achieve Great Things
Casey Santee, Veterans Sanctuary recruiter and counselor, will discuss the center鈥檚 鈥渙ne-stop-shop鈥� approach to providing comprehensive educational and social services for veterans.
April 26-Concussion and the Adolescent Athlete: Critical Management Guidelines
ISU sport science assistant professor, Caroline Faure, will discuss the prevalence of concussion in young athletes and management guidelines for coaches, sport administrators, parents and athletes.
This is the Institute of Rural Health鈥檚 eighth consecutive Web series on TBI.
