糖心传媒 Health High School continues dual-enrollment health-related courses for 2010-11 academic year
August 2, 2010
糖心传媒 Health High School will continue its dual-enrollment health-related courses in the fall 2010 and spring 2011. Qualified high school students can take several Web classes for both high school elective and academic college credit.
One of the best aspects of the program is its price per college credit: high school students participating in ISU鈥檚 Early College Program have a $65 per credit fee for taking the classes. Regular ISU part-time fees are $273 per credit.
The UHHS program provides a platform for learning more about the health professions and offers high school students access to online courses throughout the state.
Courses include the following: HCA 1110 鈥 鈥淚ntro to the Allied Health Professions鈥; HCA 2210 鈥 鈥淢edical Terminology and Communication鈥; DENT 2201 鈥 鈥淧rinciples of Dental Hygiene鈥; CSED 2205 鈥 鈥淚ntroduction to Communication Differences and Disorders鈥; HE 2221 鈥 鈥淚ntroduction to Health Education鈥; PTOT 2299 鈥 鈥淚ntroduction to Occupational Therapy.鈥
The courses begin on Aug. 23, with payment due no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20.
鈥淚f a student thinks he or she might be interested in one of the health professions, taking one or more of these online classes allows them to decide if they are truly interested in one of the disciplines as their future career,鈥 said Barbara Bishop, Director of the Early College Program.
Students are also starting a college transcript, paying reduced fees and learning about the work required to be successful in college-level class work. Interested students may apply for admission to take dual-credit classes by submitting their application at and choosing the 鈥淓arly College Program鈥 application. Students who previously enrolled in ISU dual-credit classes still need to take this step since the university is converting to Banner and BengalWeb for admission and registration.
A High School Verification and a Parent/Guardian document must be signed by a high school official and parent or guardian and submitted to the Early College Program before admission is complete. Once those steps have been taken, students will be mailed their user name and password needed to register for the dual-credit classes.
