What methods will you use to determine which titles are included? How many positions will be impacted. Focused on function, not titles or classifications. Lots of different types of positions instead of traditional titles. What does it mean to evaluate the workload of positions? Committee will review and go over that. Need strategic plan on how to do this. Want to work collaboratively. Do you see initiative eliminating some positions? Needs of each department. Some admin totally overloaded and some, where that isnt the case. Patience Why: Want to provide resources and best practices. Administrative work is a career. We want people to have a ladder and make it a career. If someone quits a lot of institutional knowledge is lost. Want to stop that cycle because it hurts ISU. Its over 200 positions at ISU. Covid response- committees have closed down. Employees should follow CDC guidelines. Households can get 4 more tests. Same guidance we use for any illness. Dont come to work if you have flu, covid, etc. If you are ill and not well, please stay home. How to get a position reclassified- if you have an increase in scope of work, responsibilities, level of decision making, supervision increases. Do some of your own work, pull up your job description and see what you are doing above your description. Have an initial conversation with your supervisor. Here is how my job has changed. HR just processes the paperwork after the work has happened at the department level. Desk Review- is the term we use in HR to do a review of a classified staff position. This is highly regulated and state driven. Compensation range is defined by state. Requirements and distinguishing characteristics. Job duties vary. Desk Review-info comes in to HR on a PDQ from the department. This is how we think this has increased in scope. HR reviews state qualifications, duties, etc and provides answers on what position the job fits. How often do these happen? Frequently. A few a month. Example of changes in job duties that changed the position. Increase in role- difference between AA2 and management asst. One difference is if your role is serving the campus community or answering questions from parents.
